Construction of Naval Traffic Control Tower
The purpose of this project is the construction of a Naval Traffic Control Tower, including two high-rise concrete shafts and four building floors located at the top of the tower, with a total construction area of 760 m². These floors include a Landscape View Floor, Technical Floor, MRCC Floor, and VIS Floor.
An administration building with a total area of 661 m² is located at the base of the tower. The structural system is Concrete – Metal.
The project also includes the execution of major repairs to the existing tower and landscaping works.
The Naval Traffic Control Tower Project was developed to provide advanced infrastructure for the management and safe control of maritime traffic through the construction of a modern high-rise control facility. The project includes the execution of two reinforced concrete tower shafts supporting four operational floors comprising the Landscape View Floor, Technical Floor, MRCC Floor, and VIS Floor, together with an administration building located at the base of the tower.
The project features a 62.41 m-high composite concrete–steel structural system with a total built-up area of 1,858 m². In addition to the construction of the new tower and administration building, the scope of work included major rehabilitation of the existing control tower and associated landscaping works, enhancing the operational capabilities of the port’s maritime traffic management facilities.
Construction activities included 927 tons of reinforcement, 7,860 m² of modular formwork, 4,950 m² of sliding formwork, and 87 tons of structural steel works. Executed by Omran Maroon Engineers Co. as the Contractor, the project was completed in accordance with engineering standards, technical specifications, and contractual requirements throughout the 24-month contract period, delivering a modern marine traffic control facility to support safe and efficient port operations.
The execution of the Naval Traffic Control Tower Project engaged multidisciplinary engineering, technical, and construction teams throughout the project implementation. The construction of a 62.41 m-high composite concrete–steel control tower, together with the administration building, rehabilitation of the existing tower, and landscaping works, required the coordinated efforts of specialists in high-rise construction, reinforced concrete works, structural steel erection, slip-form construction, rehabilitation engineering, and site management.
The execution of the project’s vertical concrete shafts using sliding formwork technology, combined with modular formwork systems and structural steel components, required efficient workforce planning, continuous technical supervision, and close coordination among engineering and construction teams to achieve high standards of structural precision, construction quality, and operational safety.
As the Contractor, Omran Maroon Engineers Co. managed and coordinated all construction activities, ensuring effective workforce organization and the successful execution of the project in full compliance with technical specifications, contractual requirements, and project schedule throughout the 24-month contract period.
