Construction of Marine Traffic Control Tower

The project is located 23 km west of Bandar Abbas, north of Qeshm Island and the Strait of Hormuz.

The contract was awarded to Omran Maroon Engineering Co. in the second quarter of 2020. The scope of work includes the construction of a 63-meter-high Marine Traffic Control Tower, an office building, and landscaping to provide the infrastructure required by the port for the management and safe control of maritime traffic, as well as to create a suitable platform for delivering higher-quality services and increasing productivity.

About This Project

The Marine Traffic Control Tower Project was developed to provide the essential infrastructure required for the management, monitoring, and safe control of maritime traffic in the strategic waters north of Qeshm Island and the Strait of Hormuz. In addition to the control tower, the project included the construction of an office building and associated landscaping works, supporting improved port operations, enhanced service quality, and increased operational efficiency.

The project features a 63.20 m-high composite concrete–steel control tower designed to meet the operational requirements of modern maritime traffic management. The structural system combines reinforced concrete and structural steel, while the tower was constructed using both modular and sliding formwork systems to achieve high construction quality, structural precision, and efficient execution of the vertical elements.

Construction activities included 627 tons of reinforcement, 5,727 m² of modular formwork, 2,889 m² of sliding formwork, and 134 tons of heavy structural steel works, providing the structural framework for the marine traffic control facilities. Executed by Omran Maroon Engineers Co. as the Contractor, the project was carried out in accordance with engineering standards, technical specifications, and contractual requirements throughout the 24-month contract period, delivering a modern maritime traffic control facility for one of Iran’s most strategic port regions.

The execution of the Marine Traffic Control Tower Project engaged multidisciplinary engineering, technical, and construction teams throughout the project implementation. The construction of a 63.20 m-high composite concrete–steel control tower, together with the office building and associated landscaping works, required the coordinated efforts of specialists in high-rise construction, structural engineering, reinforced concrete works, structural steel erection, slip-form construction, and site management.

The project’s advanced structural system, combining reinforced concrete and structural steel, together with the implementation of modular and sliding formwork technologies, required efficient workforce planning, continuous technical supervision, and close coordination among engineering and construction teams to ensure structural precision, construction quality, and safe project execution.

As the Contractor, Omran Maroon Engineers Co. managed and coordinated all construction activities, ensuring effective workforce organization and the successful delivery of the project in full compliance with technical specifications, contractual requirements, and project schedule throughout the 24-month contract period.
