The Sangtuda 2 Dam and Hydropower Plant is a major hydropower infrastructure project located in the Danghara District of Tajikistan, approximately 180 km southeast of Dushanbe. The project features an earth-fill dam with a clay core and includes the construction of key hydraulic and power generation facilities.
Under Contract No. 400/7008, Omran Maroon Engineers Co. served as the Main Contractor, undertaking the construction of the temporary diversion system, dam body, spillway, intake structure, and powerhouse in accordance with the project’s engineering specifications and contractual requirements.
The project includes a 32-meter-high dam with a 385-meter crest length, together with 1,300,000 m³ of rock excavation, 998,000 m³ of embankment works, 28,000 m³ of concrete placement, 404 tons of reinforcement, and 85,000 m of grout injection. The hydropower plant is equipped with two 110 MW generating units, reflecting the scale and engineering complexity of this international hydropower development.
The construction of the Sangtuda 2 Dam and Hydropower Plant created employment opportunities for multidisciplinary engineering, technical, and construction teams throughout the project execution. The implementation of large-scale earthworks, rock excavation, embankment construction, reinforced concrete works, grout injection, and the construction of hydraulic and powerhouse structures required the coordinated efforts of specialized professionals across multiple engineering disciplines.
As the Main Contractor, Omran Maroon Engineers Co. managed and coordinated construction activities, supporting efficient workforce organization and ensuring the successful execution of this international hydropower project in accordance with technical specifications and contractual requirements throughout the 43-month construction period.
