Economic Benefits

The Espian Project is located in Dargaz County, Razavi Khorasan Province, Iran, at Km 17 of the Kalat Road.

The primary objective of the project is to prevent flood damage to agricultural lands caused by rising river water levels and to transfer water from the diversion dam to the Shourkal Area and the Abivard Reservoir Dam. The project is designed to provide part of the potable water supply for Dargaz City and to irrigate the southeastern areas of Dargaz and Lotfabad through the implementation of modern irrigation and drainage networks.

The project includes 4,000 m³ of gabion works, a 2,700 m access road, and a trapezoidal canal

About This Project

The Espian Project is a strategic water resources and irrigation development scheme designed to improve flood protection, water transfer, and agricultural water management in Dargaz County. The project facilitates the controlled diversion of water from the Espian diversion dam to the Shourkal Area and the Abivard Reservoir Dam while supporting potable water supply and expanding irrigation services through modern irrigation and drainage systems.

The scope of work included the construction of a 9 km trapezoidal canal, 2,700 m access road, and 4,000 m³ of gabion protection works, together with extensive earthworks, rock excavation, reinforced concrete construction, embankment works, reinforcement installation, and formwork execution. These components were delivered to provide a reliable hydraulic infrastructure capable of supporting long-term water conveyance, flood mitigation, and agricultural development throughout the project area.

Implemented by Omran Maroon Engineers Co. as the Contractor, the project was completed in accordance with the required engineering standards and contractual specifications during the 24-month construction period.

Employment

The implementation of the Espian Project created employment opportunities for multidisciplinary engineering, technical, and construction teams throughout the execution period. The construction of the water conveyance system, trapezoidal canal, access road, gabion protection works, and associated civil structures required the coordinated efforts of specialists in earthworks, reinforced concrete construction, hydraulic infrastructure, and project execution.

As the Contractor, Omran Maroon Engineers Co. coordinated construction activities and managed the execution of major civil works, contributing to the efficient organization of the project workforce and the successful delivery of the project in accordance with technical specifications and contractual requirements throughout the 24-month construction period.
