The Ahmad Beyglu Dam is situated in the northern highlands of Sabalan, approximately 11 km west of Meshginshahr, and is accessible via a northern approach road.

The dam is an earth-fill structure with a clay core, featuring a vertical height of 57 m above the riverbed. It has a crest width of 10 m and a total crest length of 528 m.

The spillway is designed as a free-overflow structure with a crest length of 25 m. The project also includes a diversion tunnel with a diameter of 5.4 m and a total length of 400 m.

About This Project

The Ahmad Beyglu Dam is an earth-fill dam with a clay core constructed in the northern highlands of Sabalan near Meshginshahr. The project includes the construction of the dam body together with its associated hydraulic structures, diversion tunnel, spillway, and access infrastructure required for reservoir operation and water control.

The project comprises a 65-meter-high dam with a 528-meter crest length, a 296-meter diversion tunnel, and a reservoir with a storage capacity of 27.4 million cubic meters. Construction activities included 1,830,000 m³ of rock excavation, 2,660,000 m³ of embankment works, 23,000 m³ of concrete placement, 1,000 tons of reinforcement, and 101,000 m² of formwork, together with 15,000 m of grout injection and the construction of 20 km of access roads to support project implementation.

Executed by Omran Maroon Engineers Co. as the Contractor, the project was completed in accordance with engineering standards and contractual specifications during the 30-month construction period, delivering a reliable hydraulic infrastructure with long-term operational performance and structural stability.

The construction of the Ahmad Beyglu Dam provided employment opportunities for multidisciplinary engineering, technical, and construction teams throughout the project execution. The implementation of large-scale rock excavation, embankment construction, reinforced concrete works, tunnel construction, grout injection, and associated hydraulic structures required the coordinated efforts of specialists across a wide range of civil engineering disciplines.
