Tazekand Reservoir Dam is located north of Ardabil Province, approximately 37 km west of Germi City, on the Sambour-Chai River. Access to the project area is provided via the Meshginshahr–Parsabad asphalt road.
In Addition, In this project, the dam type is Earth Fill dam with Clay Core, with 13,800 m of Grout Injection executed and 4.5 km of access road.
The objective of the scheme is to utilize the potential of seasonal flood flows of the Sambour-Chai River and its tributaries. The project is intended to improve irrigation for existing agricultural lands covering 507 hectares, with an allocation of 6.3 million cubic meters.
The project also includes supplying potable water to Tazekand City and nearby villages with a volume of 5.2 million cubic meters, supplying water for industrial use with a volume of 5.0 million cubic meters, and allocating water resources for environmental purposes with a volume of 9.1 million cubic meters.
The Tazekand Reservoir Dam is an earth-fill dam with a clay core constructed on the Sambour-Chai River in Ardabil Province. The project comprises the construction of the dam body together with its associated hydraulic structures, providing the infrastructure required for long-term water storage and regulated water distribution.
The scope of work included the execution of a 46-meter-high dam with a 314-meter crest length, a 160-meter tunnel, and a reservoir with a storage capacity of 8 million cubic meters. Construction activities also involved 760,000 m³ of rock excavation, 600,000 m³ of embankment works, 37,000 m³ of concrete placement, 1,248 tons of reinforcement, and 17,000 m² of formwork, together with 13,800 m of grout injection and the construction of a 4.5 km access road to support project implementation.
Executed by Omran Maroon Engineers Co. as the Contractor, the project was completed in accordance with engineering standards and contractual requirements during the 36-month construction period, delivering a durable hydraulic infrastructure for water resources development and reservoir operation.
The construction of the Tazekand Reservoir Dam provided employment opportunities for multidisciplinary engineering, technical, and construction teams throughout the project implementation. The execution of large-scale earthworks, embankment construction, reinforced concrete structures, tunnel construction, grout injection, and associated hydraulic facilities required the coordinated efforts of specialists across multiple civil engineering disciplines.
As the Contractor, Omran Maroon Engineers Co. managed and coordinated the execution of all major construction activities, supporting effective workforce organization and ensuring the successful delivery of the project in accordance with technical specifications and contractual requirements throughout the 36-month construction period.
